After years of waiting, Linux got the Google voice chat.
The new Ubuntu 9.10 karmic koala has brought the tool “Empathy“. It has the built in facility to have voice chat with google talk users.
Now I am talking with google talk users.

What about the quality of the voice? while i checked with ubuntu 9.04 , i got voice breakage. What about now? Any version updation on empathy?

Heard that pidgin also supports voice in 9.10
try pidgin too.

I tried empathy in 9.04, but voice did not work, but after upgrading ubuntu installation to 9.10 it is working fine. Very good voice quality.
pidgin is also doing since late September . (I’m on debian sid
).
