Happy 25th Birthday to GNU

Before 25 years, Richard M Stallman (RMS) started the GNU Movement.

The GNU gives the 4 freedoms to the software users.

  • The freedom to run the program, for any purpose (freedom 0).
  • The freedom to study how the program works, and adapt it to
    your needs (freedom 1). Access to the source code is a precondition
    for this.
  • The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help your neighbor
    (freedom 2).
  • The freedom to improve the program, and release your improvements
    to the public, so that the whole community benefits (freedom 3).
    Access to the source code is a precondition for this.

As GNU movement went worldwide and the GNU/Linux was born.

This year, 2008, the GNU movement celebrates its 25th Birthday.

To spread the freedom, The famous English Actor Stephen Fry and GNU,
has prepared a small movie where Fry talks about GNU.
