Topic: Contributing to the FOSS Lab Manual

ILUGC volunteers are contributing to prepare a Lab Manual collaboratively
for the “Open Source Lab”, Anna University, Chennai.

Topic: Developing stateful web application using continuation in perl.

Normal we applications are stateless. Continuation is the way to
provide statefulness to http, thus developing web applications similar to
desktop/cli applications.

Raman works in Railways Hospital as System Admin. He is so passionate
about spreading the FOSS.
When he is not in office, you can see him at some college, teaching
the students about Linux and
other open source technologies. He is one of the pillars of ILUGC.

Topic : Assistive technologies for the visually challenged

Raju is the founder of a NGO called Third Eye Technical Voluntary Group.

They are working on developing open source software
to bring assistive technologies for blind people .

They have released the following software.
1. Net Hunter Tamil  – tamil pdf to unicode text converter  and  also
available in HINDI
2. Street Hunter  – location finder for the blind using gps and open
street maps in mobiles

Raju explains on their operations and how and why they develop open
source applications for blind people.
