help needed – how to contribute to free software by testing?

can anyone write some articles or talk or conduct a one day workshop on how to contribute to free software by software testing?

there is a Chennai-testing group.
we can encourage them to contribute to free software.

reply here if you are interested.

  1. Stay as close to upstream as possible, so that things do not get fragmented at the distribution level.

Test development releases because those get the most attention from developers. By the time a stable release is out, it is already too late. More so if you are testing the stable release of a distribution.

GNOME is trying very hard to make it easier to test. Catch me on IRC if you are interested. I am rishi.

      • I am usually rishi on Freenode and GIMPNet. Just do a /query on my nick. For GNOME’s side of things, you can visit #testable on GIMPNet and talk to the people there. I am not in that particular channel since GIMPNet has a limit on the number of channels and I am already on too many of them.

I am not the most authoritative person on this subject, although I know some of the basic ideas and mistakes after taking and listening to more knowledgeable people. So you should rather talk to the actual people, than asking me to blog.🙂
