  19. Your site is so nice.
    i have a silly question.

We indians promoting linux flavor so well. why dont have have our own (Indian Linux) distro! why we still promoting other country distor! i know we do have one BOSS i tried it but i feel is its not public level contribution in india nor its promoted as public level.

“Why dont inida have its own Linux Distroi?”

    • Hi,

      Thanks for the comment.

Creating a distro is not a big deal. But, maintaining is very difficult.

It needs volunteers from around the globe.

without volunteers help, that distro wont succeed.

This is what happens to BOSS.

Even, if we did, there wont be any special other than an indian distro. nowadays, even students roll out their own distro.

as said, before continuous maintenance is the issue.

If we spend all our time and efforts on spreading any existing linux distro, that will be a great contribution.

      Thanks for your interest.

      Shrinivasan

  20. >But, maintaining is very difficult.
I 100% accept but we do have man power in India itself to do it. see Debian,Fedora, Ubuntu… all we have Indians… why can they all join to create one Indian ?

you think we cant do that?

Promoting existing is ok what you say because we like it. but for our own country distro lets others use it if they want.

BOSS i tried it once but once is see there is no one from outside promote it other than Indian gov. nor they give way to promote it by outsiders then there is no use in using it!

I still love Ubuntu but i love it one is come from our own country. many do indain language support in other distro but why can all connect to one indian distro !!

maintaining wont be issue if all have same mind of doing it!

    • Yes. Indians contribute for all distros. But the percentage is too less.

i hope 10% of contribution is given by us. Else is given by the people around the globe.

With this 10% contribution, it is tough to come up with our own distro.

The contribution is the people’s own interest. people choose their own distro like fedora, debia, ubuntu etc.

It is tough to ask them to contribute for a single distro.

I strongly believe that contributing to existing distro is great then coming with a new distro. Many people may have this opinion. some people may differ.

But, you are always welcome to experiment this. start a survey on this. send the survey form to all the indian LUG mailing lists. discuss this in the lists.

If you have time, start a new distro. Then, you will get the real picture.

      Wishes.

Contact me for any assistance. Will help you gladly.

  27. Hi Shrinivasan,

I have been going thro the websites for recovering my daughters voice in amr format in her mobile phone (Nokia X6) stumbled upon your blog which is quite reassuring . The file which was the only voice recording left behind by my 17yr old daughter, who passed away in an accident last may, was accidentally deleted by my son last week. The file is so precious that my wife keeps hearing to it to keep her spirits alive.
I have tried some of the data recovery softwares(File Scavenger3.2, Pandora Recovery1.4.0, Searchandrecover) for the last few days..
I was able to view all the files deleted from the mass storage and the files in the phone memory is not viewable. From the record setting, I found that the recording is stored in phone memory.
I do not have any clue to get this file back, CAN U PLEASE HELP ME RECOVER THIS FILE THAT IS PRICELESS FOR US SHRINI ?

    MANIVANNAN,M
